natural Anti-Aging Supplements

SHARKS. HEIGHTS. SPIDERS. NOPE, none of those things scare us quite like the term “rapid aging”. We first heard the term from Dr. Sarah Gottfried in this 2017 piece on TCM and it’s been haunting us ever since.

In part three of our series on aging with Women’s Wellness Collective founder, Kristin Dahl, Kristin is exploring the anti-aging supplements she recommends for optimal health. Consider booking a private consultation with a nutritionist to truly optimize your personal regimen, the right combination of herbs and supplements can bring a sense of epic wellbeing.

COLLAGEN PROTEIN is a great source of readily absorbed protein that also has gut-healing properties and is beneficial for joints, bones and skin health. Take one scoop daily, mixed into smoothies, elixirs, hot drinks or meals for major benefits over time.

RESVERATROL is a compound found naturally in grapes that acts as an antioxidant. It’s especially beneficial in protecting and supporting skin health because of its role in reducing oxidative stress. It’s also supportive of cardiovascular health and in reducing the risk of cancer. Resveratrol potentiates the vitamin D receptor, meaning it helps to get vitamin D into the cells in our bodies.

COQ10 improves tissue oxygenation, increases circulation and enhances immunity, all necessary mechanisms for strengthening and supporting a healthy aging process.

VITAMIN D3 is an essential vitamin for healthy aging. As we age, vitamin-D production in the skin decreases, so supplementation helps to restore adequate levels. Vitamin D is important for skin health and for the prevention of osteoporosis and bone fractures, high blood pressure and diabetes.

VITAMIN B12 deficiency is a particular problem when it comes to aging. A lack of vitamin B12 can lead to the development of neurological symptoms ranging from tingling sensations, inability to coordinate muscle movements, weakened limbs, a lack of balance, memory loss, mood changes, disorientation and psychiatric disorders.

FLAXSEED OIL is an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which play a key role in cell formation and are essential for optimal brain functioning. Essential fatty acids also protect the heart and help keep plaque from adhering to the arteries.

ZINC supplementation can be beneficial as it boosts the immune system and is protective of the respiratory system. It’s also a vital mineral for skin, hair and nail health, so supplementing with it can decrease the signs of aging. (Do not take zinc on an empty stomach as it may cause nausea.)  Article by The Chalkboard
